Winter Rules

Dear Captain

What are “Winter Rules”?

Liz, from Mendip GC

A local rule (Specimen Local Rules App1-4c) adopted by most courses during winter months to promote fairer play and preserve the course by allowing you to mark and clean your ball before replacing it within 6 inches not nearer the hole. This can only be done on a closely mown area “through the green” (see definitions) which is generally fairway height or less.
